Learning Outside The Classroom: "What Makes A Good Learner?, A Qualities of A Good Teacher, A Great Lesson.

Learning Log, learning inside the classroom, 30th June, 2014
In the past, some teachers might focus 3Ps teaching approach; presentation, practice and production. But my teacher realizes an important process to improve English skills of students, like Task-Based Learning (TBL). It's direct focus on students' pragmatic competence and do what students learnt.
Assigned work for today is group work, which according to cooperative learning. Teacher divided students in 6 groups, then took 4 English skills articles to each groups.The mission of students is conclude the articles and presents for 15 minutes show to their teacher and their friends, what is their given article about? The second work is solo work, write academic writing about "Teaching with technology" , and the structure of it consists of introduction in first paragraph, Body in next paragraph and conclusion in last paragraph of writing. Moreover should adding reference information in the writing. The last work for today, I have to take note of other groups' presentation information and have to summarize them into my blog.
Conclusion, I received three works that I have to do and present to my teacher in next week. All of solo works and group work, which it support Task-Based Learning (TBL) and cooperative learning concept. all of considered, I thought, in the truth real learning is not limit of study and study just as studying in my class today. But it also include learning by doing.

Learning outside the classroom of 1st week: Developing 4 English skills,reading and writing skills. (Wed, 25th June, 2014)
First of all, I would
like to tell you about the background of the topic, English is a global
language so it has played an important for international communication. Considering
the function of the English language, both English and non-English speaker use
the language for different purposes. For my reason, it’s very important for my
future career, an English teacher. Nevertheless, I still weak on some skills,
such listening and speaking, including to writing. Due to, I had studied
English as ESL learner since my primary school. So I should learn and practice
these skills more and more.
On my opinion, reading
can help me to develop my writing skill because I will know and learn how to
the native’s real speech and writing strategy. Some words or some sentences,
not same what I had learnt from my grammatical book. I think it may be help me
to improve about speaking and reading skills, too.
By the way, today I
read a comic adventure book, Sinbad, retold by Janet
Hardy-Gould. It about a man, who became a sailor after his father dead and
his adventure experiences on sailing. The story told, the beginning of the
story, Sinbad got his father’s treasure, after him dead. Sinbad was unhappy for
a few days, and then he spent all money to pay happiness for him. But after a
year, Sinbad has no more money. Moreover, he has into debt shopkeepers. Hence, Sinbad
decided to sell his father’s best tables and chairs. With the money he bought
some beautiful carpets. He thought to sail to sell the carpets for keep the
money and turn to the shopkeepers. This is the beginning of Sinbad’s adventures
surprisingly. Sinbad becomes the sailor and he spends many years at sea. He
visits strange countries, and meet some strange people; cannibals. And some
very frightening animals; a big whale, which he misunderstand that it a
beautiful island, a Roc, big snakes. He is sometimes rich, sometimes poor. But
he always can use his flair to solve the problems and can survive from the dangers.
All the time he is learning from his adventures, until finally he returns home
to Baghdad, an older and wiser man.
To summarize, the book
have tests, both of pre- reading tests and post- reading tests. There is
navigation between chapters, guessing what is happening in next chapter. It
makes the book even more worth reading. I have learnt many techniques approach
to the reading and writing in English, almost structure of grammar is used
present tense. Besides, I got new vocabularies.

Learning Log: inside the classroom, 1st
Every semester, I always learn various experiences
and get new benefit knowledge, both of learning inside and outside the
classroom for my major studying, English major of Education faculty.
Today,
Tue 24th June, 2014. First time to meet between teacher and a new
group of students the top topic not avoid to discuss that is the strategic and technique
of the subject (Curriculum and Learning Management in English). Including,
project and works that I must to do; own blog, the contents about learning logs
what I learn about English inside and outside the classroom in daily life or
one interested of a week. We also talked substantive contents that I’m going to
studying in this course and we discussed indicators of English subject.
All
of consider, the new knowledge that I have learnt for today, learning new
vocabularies about education and techniques in learning and teaching English.
All of these will without any benefits if I don’t apply in real life or real
situations in my classroom, in my opinion.
